Young flamenco also reaches large music forums. Sandra Carrasco and Antonio Rey present their latest discs in concert on November 3rd at the Teatro Fernando Fernán Gómez in Madrid (Spain), in the setting of the city's 28th Jazz Festival. In this double concert, the Huelva-born cantaora premieres her début album live, produced by Javier Limón, on which she connects the "jondo roots" of flamenco and other types of world music. The guitarist, winner of the 2010 Córdoba National Flamenco Contest's Guitar Prize, performs live the contents of his second album 'Colores del fuego', on which he displays all of his flamenco personality. At the 2011 Madrid Jazz Festival, Sandra Carrasco presents her first album, recently released with the Blue Note Flamenco label of EMI Music Spain and produced by Javier Limón. The disc, according to the record company, "reflects a very special sensitivity and announces a different artist". Israeli double bass player Avishai Cohen, who plays on the album and called on the cantaora for his concert at the Olympia in Paris last April, states that "when I listen to Sandra sing, she takes me back in time, mixing tradition and modernity; she undoubtedly has one of the most important voices on today's music scene". Sandra Carrasco, who also accompanies Anoushka Shankar on the European tour of 'Traveller', has important musicians on her first album who shape up a melting pot of cultures. "It's not a flamenco record, it's very modern, but it has some really deep jondo roots. It goes from one place to another, it's fresh and it's new", the artist asserts.
Antonio Rey will focus the night of November 3rd at the Teatro Fernán Gómez in Madrid on his latest disc, 'Colores del fuego'. The musician, considered one of the flamenco guitarists of greatest renown nowadays, reflects - according to his record company - "his virtuoso, original, different, inspired, surprising toque in bulerías, soleá por bulerías, alegrías, rumbas, tangos and lullabies". This recording, the first one he has done for EMI, includes special guests Estrella Morente, Vicente Amigo, Josemi Carmona and Arcángel, and comes with the endorsement of a career beside first-rate artists such as Farruquito, who he accompanies in his latest show 'Baile flamenco', and in shows on international tours like 'Flamenco Hoy de Carlos Saura'.
