Coming out on June 11th is the
DVD of ‘Sabores’, the latest show by Sara
Baras. The audiovisual includes 108 minutes of dancing,
music and cante from the show by the Cádiz-born
bailaora, which was filmed at Madrid’s Teatro Nuevo
Apolo during the season the company had in the Spanish
capital from September 2006 to January 2007. The DVD,
elaborated with cinema techniques, also includes extra
contents such as an interview with the artist, photo galleries,
the ‘making of’ and a private party with the
company.

Four years after ‘Mariana Pineda’
came out, Sara
Baras releases her second DVD. Available in the same
digital format beginning on June 11th is the show ‘Sabores’,
which has already been performed in front of over 300,000
spectators all over the world since its premiere
in Paris in December 2005.
Taking advantage of the season which
the company had at Madrid’s Teatro Apolo from September
2006 to January 2007, the cameras filmed the 108 minutes
which the show lasts. The audiovisual is directed by Rafa
Sañudo, while its photography director is Valentín
Álvarez. According to a press release by the company,
highlighting the production is the fact “that the
five main cameras were operated by photography directors
using cinema optics and for the first time in this kind
of recording, an overhead camera was included hanging
over the center of the stage”.

Besides the whole show, the DVD has five
extra sections: a grand finale including the participation
of Concha Baras, the artist’s mother, whom the show
is dedicated to; the ‘making of’ the filming;
an interview with Sara Baras; a photo gallery; and a private
party with the company celebrating the farewell to their
season in Madrid.
Trilogy of shows
‘Sabores’ closes the trilogy
of shows without a storyline which Sara Baras began in
1998 with ‘Sensaciones’, a show that was followed
by ‘Sueños’, which was depicted in
a photo
book with the same title. In this third “concert-style”
show, different flamenco styles are presented in the shape
of solos by the bailaora and her two guest artists, José
Serrano and Luis Ortega; and choral pieces by the dance
corps. Tangos, seguiriyas, zambra, alegrías, taranto,
martinete and soleá por bulería alternate
with instrumental numbers conducted by José María
Bandera and performed live by guitarists, cantaores, percussionists
and a violinist.
