Ruffled dresses are back. The 2012 SIMOF Flamenco Fashion Trade Fair holds its eighteenth edition from February 2nd to 5th at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos in Seville (Fibes). The program offers twenty-four parades with 1200 dresses by professional designers, among them, Aurora Gaviño, Pilar Freire, Vicky Martín Berrocal, Juana Martín, Ana Morón, Cristo Báñez and Luchi Cabrera. Renowned Spanish models such as Laura Sánchez, Eva González and María José Suárez will share the catwalk with flamenco artists like cantaora Esperanza Fernández, Alicia Gil, Macarena Giráldez and bailaora La Niña de los Cupones, among others. Novelties this year include the encounter of fashion bloggers as well as the collective parades revolving around two themes: children’s world and romerías. The trade fair will open on Thursday, February 2nd with the New Designers Contest, including the participation of ten young talents who will display the latest avant-garde trends in flamenco fashion. At the same time, the exhibit area will be host to a wide range of companies from the sector, between design and dressmaking firms, ones from the textile industry, craftsmen of costume jewelry and accessories, shawls, castanets and shoes.
