Flamenco-world.com, April 2006

Ten days of flamenco all over the Comunidad de Madrid. That is the proposal of Festival Suma Flamenca, which is to be held from May 30th to June 11th, 2006 on different stages in the capital city of Madrid as well as in towns in the environs such as Alcalá de Henares, Leganés, Torrelodones and Móstoles, among others. Standing out on the bill are performances by leading cante figures such as José Mercé, Diego el Cigala, Carmen Linares, Agujetas, Chano Lobato and Guadiana, among others.

Moreover, the new Madrilenian festival offers baile performances by maestros such as Manolete and El Güito, and instrumental flamenco performances by Gerardo Núñez and Son de la Frontera. It also includes celebrations like that of the fiftieth anniversary of the tablao El Corral de la Morería, as well as exhibits on the history of flamenco in Madrid, an encounter about Camarón and a gala joining three generations of bailaores from the school Amor de Dios. Festival Suma Flamenca has joined the annual Madrilenian flamenco agenda, where events are marked such as the Caja Madrid Flamenco Festival and the Flamenco Pa’ Tos Festival.
