Taller Flamenco is to hold its prestigious flamenco dancing workshops in Seville, coinciding with Seville’s 14th Bienal de Flamenco. From September 18th to October 13th, 2006, maestros Pastora Galván, Rafaela Carrasco, Ángeles Gabaldón and Felipe Mato will teach their respective advanced-level intensive courses specializing in styles such as soleá por bulerías, alegrías, petenera and taranto. At the same time, the school offers the intensive baile and technique program ‘¡Cursos con mucho arte!’ (‘Courses with a lot of Art!’) to pupils of all levels. A few months earlier, Taller Itinerante travels to France to organize the courses for the 2006 Mont de Marsan Flamenco Festival with maestros like Isabel Bayón and Alejandro Granados.

The workshop program of Taller Flamenco, a Seville-based school with twelve years of experience in flamenco teaching, kicks off from September 18th to 22nd with maestra Pastora Galván. The Sevillian bailaora is scheduled to teach the intensive course ‘Technique Technique and Stylistic Variations for Soleá por Bulerías’ for the advanced and professional levels. The following workshop will take place from September 25th to 29th, with Rafaela Carrasco as the instructor. The Sevillian bailaora, author of shows such as ‘Una mirada del flamenco’, will focus on ‘Stylistic Variations for Female Flamenco Dance’ with choreography por alegrías.

The courses by Ángeles Gabaldón and Felipe Mato have two sets of dates. The Sevillian bailaora teaches a course of ‘Positioning, Expression, Movement and Technique’ with choreography por petenera from October 2nd to 6th; and another of ‘Movement, Expression, Technique and Body Positioning’ with soleá por bulerías choreography from October 9th to 13th. Felipe Mato has decided on taranto choreography in his course of ‘Technique, Positioning, Coordination’ from October 2nd to 6th; while from October 9th to 13th his classes specialize in ‘Movement, Expression, Technique of positioning for feet & arms’ with choreography por soleá.

Besides these workshops for advanced- and professional-level students with limited places, Taller Flamenco offers the special technique and baile program ‘¡Cursos con mucho arte!’ for all levels and from two to six weeks in length. This special program joins other periodic programs such as the ‘Estaciones Flamencas’ (‘Flamenco Seasons’) for June and August 2006 and the ‘Combinaciones de Arte’ for November, besides the baile, guitar and compás courses scheduled on a regular basis by this cosmopolitan school located in the heart of the La Alameda quarter in Seville.

2006 Mont de Marsan Flamenco Festival Courses

But Taller Flamenco’s mastery lies not only in Seville. Through its affiliate, Taller Itinerante, the school organizes the course program of the 2006 Mont de Marsan Flamenco Festival from July 2nd to 17th. It includes eleven baile courses for different levels with maestros such as Isabel Bayón, Alejandro Granados and Carmen Ledesma. It also offers three palmas and compás courses with Gamba de Jerez; plus another five guitar courses, two of which focus on accompaniment for baile and cante. Also away from its headquarters, Taller Itinerante organizes a baile course with Marco Vargas in the German city of Ulm on July 22nd and 23rd, 2006.
