Flamenco en los Veranos de
la Villa 2009
Flamenco-world.com, May 2009
With Festival Suma Flamenca scarcely
having finished, Madrid will be filled once again with cante,
guitar and baile. During the summer, flamenco is included
in the cultural program Veranos de la Villa 2009, rubbing
shoulders with great international figures of song, jazz,
musicals and ballet. The jondo offer sprinkles the program
of the new main stage, Puerta del Ángel. The world
premiere of ‘Flamenco Hoy de Carlos Saura’ (‘Today’s
Flamenco by Carlos Saura’) will be held there
and, moreover, Chano Domínguez’s flamenco will
dialogue with Paquito D’Rivera’s latin jazz,
and cantaor Diego el Cigala with guitarist Tomatito. In
addition, the bill includes a new edition of the Flamenco
Series at the Sabatini Gardens. There will be six nights
with a twin bill from August 11th to 16th, with shows such
as those of Carmen Linares, El Cabrero, Antonio Rey and
Rocío Márquez. All of it is joined by a revival
of ‘Juana la Loca’ by Sara Baras in the setting
of the acts of ‘Juana V Centenario’.
