Flamenco Festival 2008. Schedule for the United States and London

Flamenco Festival USA 2008 is already underway. The first quejíos, heel tapping and strumming took place in Los Angeles where, within the program ‘On Tour’, Eva Yerbabuena has inaugurated the eighth edition of the U.S. festival. The two performances of the show ‘Santo y seña’ on February 6th and 7th at UCLA’s Royce Hall are the start of a new international tour for the Granada-born bailaora and choreographer, whose company celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.

Boston’s Emerson Majestic Theater, Washington’s Lisner Auditorium and New York’s City Center are some of the stages where Eva Yerbabuena’s Flamenco Ballet will present her latest show, ‘Santo y Seña’, from February 6th to 17th, 2008. The Granada-born artist kicks off the eighth edition of Flamenco Festival USA within the traveling program ‘On Tour’.

Following the performances in the United States, the company will move on to Montreal’s Maissoneuve Theater. Moreover, in the Canadian city, Eva Yerbabuena will be a part of the presidency of the 9th Montreal en Lumière Festival, together with great international stage names such as José Carreras, Bárbara Hendricks, Robert Wilson and the recently deceased Maurice Bèjart. And for the artist it is “a great honor and important international recognition for the continuous work which we have done with the company over these ten years”.

Then in April, Eva Yerbabuena once again inaugurates. Flamenco Festival Paris 2008 will also kick off with ‘Santo y seña’, a show which will be on the bill at the Théâtre National de Chaillot from April 9th to 14th. The following month, she will close the first edition of Flamenco Festival in Brussels (Belgium) on May 25th at the Palais de Beaux Arts. The company is now closing its agenda for the following months, with a view to touring Latin American countries such as Brazil, Chile and Argentina. Moreover, she is getting a special show ready to celebrate the ten years of the company, which in this decade has performed shows like ‘Eva’, ‘5 mujeres 5’ and ‘La voz del silencio’, among others, on stages all over the world.
