Comentario: Hola Daniel (or... Hi, pleased to find another mad fan of this jewel, "sacromonte")... Answering your doubt about TIRO-TIRE: es una COLOMBIANA. This rare style of flamenco, was first recorded by PEPE MARCHENA who created and gave it too its name: "colombiana" due to its melody... You probably note that it sounds near others "palos de ida y vuelta", styles influenced by southamerican music, like "guajiras" or "tangos del piyayo", but its not original from "folclore colombiano", this name can take somebody in wrong way, really is more like an "habanera", if you know ... Comentario: De verdad, yo creo que Morente es mejor que Camaron...

...and this album is pure joy. Frankly, I would buy this album just for track 9 - Tiro Tire. I don't think i've heard Enrique sound as gorgeous as he does in this song. Pero no estoy seguro que palo es. Alguien me lo puede dice?

Also, Mi Pena is a standout as well... Tango's are a Morente specialty.

The fandango Amante is another joya of flamenco.

Plus, there are a few high quality Rhumbas which always have popular appeal.

If you're new to flamenco this is a great introduction to Morente and flamenco in general, more accessible than much of his earlier work (which definitely goes down better with afficcionados). He pretty much sticks to more popular forms on this. In saying that even an afficcionado will enjoy hearing this just to hear Morente at the top of the flamenco tree and some of his greatest songs.

I played this just 2 weeks ago on a Sunday with my fiance (who is Peruvian). It was a late night in Sydney. Dark clouds covered the sky. I had candles set up around the room, we smoked a pair of cuban cigars, some licqor 43, Pisco and Anis... and this CD Sacromonte by Morente playing on the 6 speaker stereo system surrounding us from all sides. It was pure bliss, one of the great pleasures of my lifetime. It poured down with rain while this album played... My fiance is a Morente convert.

Comentario: I am not a flamenco specialist- in fact- this is my first record in this genre. I bought it as a souvenir when I was in Granada this winter (99). It is a kind of musical rebirth for me to listen to this record. It contains a feeling that I thought was lost in modern recordings since several yars ago. The relationship between the flamenco and the blues is obvious and I think I can hear the influence of Arabic music too. I can not say anything but- I was lucky to buy this record when I visited Spain.
